The Organisation

Established in 1936, the Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) is the peak representative body for real estate practitioners in Victoria.

OUR MISSION

To enhance the professional excellence of our members to the benefit of the communities they work within, and to advocate and represent their interests.

OUR MEMBERS

REIV Members are located in the CBD, metropolitan, rural and regional Victoria and represent all areas of real estate specialisation.
The membership comprises of:

  • Over 2,000 corporate members representing agencies of all sizes, ranging from small family run businesses to large franchise groups
  • 5,000 real estate professionals across Victoria
  • Over 2,000 individuals studying towards a qualification in the real estate profession
  • Affiliated companies and individuals providing products and services to the real estate industry

Chapters and Divisions

In order to promote ongoing exchange of ideas and provide a platform for peer to peer support and development, the REIV has an active culture of working through Chapters and Divisions. Each Chapter and Division  has a core committee that provides a forum to champion issues, ideas and opportunities.

Divisions provide a geographic focus for the achievement of the REIV’s objects as set out in the Constitution and the Mission and Strategic Objectives determined by the Board.

Division Committees:

  • Represent their Divisional Members’ interests to the REIV

  • Provide the conduit for REIV policy and practice consultations and the dissemination of information and advice

  • Identify issues and opportunities specifically affecting their geographical area and alert and liaise with the REIV in addressing them

  • Actively consult with their Division members on local and REIV matters

  • Organise Division events, whether debates, seminars, workshops, training, CPD, social and philanthropic

  • Promote REIV products and services

  • Encourage REIV membership

Chapters are real estate special interest groups providing members with opportunities to engage with like-minded professionals and enabling the REIV to engage with Members on matters of particular relevance to them.

Chapter Committees contribute to the development and relevance of REIV product and service offerings by:

  • Highlighting issues and opportunities of particular interest to their Chapter

  • Identifying topics and participants for REIV Chapter specific and wider events

They also provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in support of REIV:

  • Advocacy and representation

  • Training and professional development

  • Good practice

  • Documentation.
