The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) is proud to announce the competitors in the 2026 REIV Senior Auctioneer of the Year competition, showcasing the state’s most skilled and respected auctioneers.
The competition commences today, Tuesday 14 April with nine trailblazing competitors representing a cross section of the sector. A shortlist of up to five will progress to the finals scheduled for Wednesday 15 April. The top two contestants will be selected to represent Victoria at the prestigious Australasian Auctioneering Championships (AUSTROS).
The REIV auction competitions are widely regarded as the benchmark for auctioneering excellence, with participants required to conduct auctions under simulated conditions that test their precision, market knowledge, and ability to engage a crowd.
This year’s finalists will progress to compete at AUSTROS from 19 - 21 May, where the REIV will co-host the event alongside the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA). The Championships will run in conjunction with the National Awards for Excellence (NAFE), collectively forming the most prestigious event on the Australasian auctioneering calendar.
REIV CEO Toby Balazs congratulated all competitors for their exceptional talent and contribution to the art of auctioneering.
“The skill of a leading auctioneer lies in the balance of preparation, market insight and the ability to read and engage a crowd, qualities clearly demonstrated by this year’s competitors.

Mr Balazs added that this year’s competitors represent the very best of the profession.
“These auctioneers are the cream of the crop, true market leaders who continue to raise the bar for professionalism and performance. They are not only representing Victoria but helping to set the standard for auctioneering across Australasia.”
