MEDIA RELEASE
The REIV has reiterated its strong support for strengthened education standards and mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) in its submission regarding the Victorian Government’s proposed changes to education and registration fees. The Institute emphasised the need for proportionate, effective regulation that delivers consistent, high-quality training results for real estate professionals.
The submission reinforces the importance of strong baseline qualifications and a legislated CPD framework to ensure practitioners can keep pace with regulatory change and changing consumer expectations.
REIV CEO Toby Balazs said, “For years, REIV Members have undertaken CPD as part of their membership requirements, and we know the significant role it has played in ensuring REIV Members are at the forefront of legislative change.
“Mandatory CPD will help make ongoing learning a natural part of every real estate professional’s career journey. The Institute urged the government to adopt a model that embeds genuine quality assurance, to ensure CPD drives material outcomes in the sector.
“The REIV stands ready to support implementation, noting the organisation’s established CPD infrastructure and industry reach.”
