Register of land, Consultation on Privacy
The Registrar of Titles (the Registrar) within the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) maintains the Register of land (the Register), which is the official record of land ownership in Victoria. The Register is, and always has been, a public register that supports the efficient functioning of property transactions. A publicly searchable register of land is a fundamental element of Victoria's property system. DTP is seeking input on balancing privacy concerns with access to information.
