The Victorian Government has commenced its Developing a new plan for Victoria campaign. As part of its wider Housing Statement agenda, the government is seeking feedback for its Big Ideas initiatives. The REIV is putting together a submission to government on the campaign and is seeking feedback from the membership.
The government has identified the following Big Ideas for consultation with Victorians ahead of A new plan for Victoria being released later in the year:
More homes in locations with great public transport access.
More housing options for all Victorians, including social and affordable homes.
More jobs and opportunities closer to where you live.
More options for how we move from place to place.
More certainty and guidance on how places will change over time.
More trees and urban greening in our parks and community space.
More protections from flooding, bushfire, and climate hazards.
Greater protection of our agricultural land.
The REIV is seeking feedback from its membership on the preference of different consumer groups that the real estate sector interacts with daily. Those groups are:
First homebuyers.
Families.
Downsizers.
Investors.
Renters.
The REIV will use this feedback to form its submission to the Victorian Government as they continue to plan for Victoria for the decades ahead. Please follow this link to take a short survey and shape the future of housing in Victoria. More information on the Big Ideas can be found on the A new plan for Victoria page. There is the further option to submit simple feedback directly to the government through the Big Ideas survey.
Feedback is open until 30th August 2024.
