As announced under the Housing Statement in September 2023, mandatory CPD will commence rollout from November 2026. Mandatory CPD will apply to all real estate professionals, including real estate agents, property managers, owners corporation managers, and conveyancers. Changes include the writing of new regulations prescribing the new CPD requirements. These will be developed through a consultation process in which the REIV is actively engaged and informed. Further, a registration scheme will be established for agents’ representatives.
The state government is finalising the details of mandatory CPD and registration requirements in collaboration with industry stakeholders, including the REIV. As this consultation continues, the REIV will inform the membership of changes in their obligations and provide training support where necessary. The REIV has advocated introducing mandatory CPD requirements to the state government to enhance professionalism and skills across the real estate sector. Mandatory CPD is set to start for agents’ representatives and agents from 25 November 2026 and owners corporation managers from 30 June 2027. Final regulations prescribing mandatory CPD are anticipated to be finalised in November 2025.
