From 13 October 2026, evidence will be required to be submitted at the time a bond and/or compensation application is lodged with VCAT. Updates to the myVCAT portal to support this change are expected to go live on Monday, 5 October 2026.
Key aspects to be aware of:
An application submitted without evidence will be rejected and cannot be reinstated. As such, it is important that any bond and/or compensation claims lodged from 13 October include the required evidence.
Evidence should cover two key areas – demonstrate the damage/ reason for the claim and substantiate the cost of rectification. This could be the ingoing and outgoing condition reports and a quote to address the issue.
Additional questions will be asked at the commencement of the application, the response to these questions will determine the mandatory evidence requirement/s.
All evidence must be uploaded to myVCAT at the time of application.
Please note, while the portal will be updated on 5 October, current processes continue to apply until 12 October 2026.
