Werribee is located 30 km south-west of the CBD. Building on its origins as an agricultural service centre Werribee has become the major commercial retail and transport centre in Melbourne's outer and fringe south-west. Werribee has also experienced rapid residential growth during the 1980s and 1990s and is expected to grow in the future. The suburb also features the Werribee Raceway the Werribee District Hospital the Werribee Cemetery the Western Treatment Plant and the terminus of the suburban railway line.
