Mount Waverley is located 16 km south-east of the CBD. Bounded by Highbury Rd in the north and Blackburn Rd in the east Mount Waverley is an large suburb in Melbourne's south-east. The major land use in the suburb is residential but there is significant industrial belt on the north side on Ferntree Gully Rd. Mount Waverley also features the Riversdale Golf Club and the Mount Waveley and Pinewood Shopping Centres. Like a number of suburbs in this part of Melbourne the population has decreased and aged significantly over the 1981-1996 period.
