East Geelong is a sought-after residential area with large public open spaces. The enormous Eastern Park runs down to the waterfront and is home to Geelong's historic Botanic Gardens. The park also features several ovals and other sports fields, and neighbours the East Geelong Golf Club. Two main roads and bus routes traverse the small suburb. East Geelong has local shopping centres at the intersections of Garden Street and Ormond Road and Breakwater and St Albans roads. It also offers quick access to the city centre.
