Education Requirements To Work In Real Estate
If you want to start a career in real estate or are considering upskilling to become a licensed real estate agent, the education requirements changed substantially from 21 October 2020.
The new education requirements reflect significant changes to standards of competency for estate agents and agents’ representatives. These requirements draw on a new training package for the real estate industry that was developed following a national review. This page provides a summary overview of the education pathways available.
The Regulations also provide exemptions for people who have completed previously prescribed educational requirements. Estate agents and agents’ representatives currently working in the real estate industry can continue to do so, as long as they satisfy the exemptions.

For students in Victoria, a range of financial support services may be available to assist with study and living costs:
Government payments such as Youth Allowance are accessible through Services Australia.
The Victorian Government also provides support for apprentices and students, including living expense assistance and concessions.
Community organisations such as St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies) offer financial counselling and hardship support for those experiencing financial difficulty.
We encourage students to explore these options to determine eligibility and access additional support while completing their studies.
