Brighton East is located 12 km south of the CBD. Brighton East is a primarily residential area in Melbourne's south. The suburb contains some commercial areas such as those along the Nepean Highway. The population is generally comprised of older affluent families but there are also large numbers of elderly in Brighton East reflecting the historic development of the suburb and a number of nursing homes and aged care facilities. Brighton East also features the Brighton Municipal Golf Club and Landcox Park.
