The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) will today launch its Choose a Member campaign, comprising print, billboard and online advertising to raise awareness of the most objective agent search tool of its kind in Victoria.

REIV President Robyn Waters said it has never been so important to do your homework to select the right person to sell, lease or manage your residential or commercial property.

“There is likely to be more than one agent in your area to choose from, so how do you decide which one is right for you?” Ms Waters said.

“The REIV will today release its innovative and accessible ‘Choose a Member’ tool: the first resource on the Victorian market that is not influenced by referral fees, priority listings or other incentives to rank one agent over another. In other words, there is no way to manipulate the order that agents and agencies are presented.

“You can even tailor your search to find the best professional with experiences matched to your needs: for example, you can see who has the best record on selling three-bedroom houses in your suburb.”

If you search for an agency with experience selling three-bedroom houses in Caroline Springs, for example, the REIV’s Choose a Member tool will provide 11 results for agencies in the area that have sold this type of property in the past 12 months. It will provide the number of sales, date of most recent result, link to agency profile and link to their recent results. Eighty per cent of Victorian agencies are REIV members so there’s plenty to choose from.

“The REIV understands that real estate transactions are usually the most significant that we make in our lives, which is why we focus on developing and supporting real estate professionals who can help make these decisions easier for you,” Ms Waters said.

“We make sure that our members are well equipped with the right knowledge, resources and tools and to give you professional advice and service to protect your interests.

“When you choose an REIV Member, you choose a professional who has completed the required training, is committed to ongoing professional development, is covered by professional indemnity insurance and is required to follow REIV guidelines to always act ethically, honestly and fairly. This is ‘The Difference’ which an REIV Member brings to your property transaction and is what makes an REIV Member unique.”
