Training at the REIV – Impact of Coronavirus

Date: 17 Mar 20

The REIV leadership team is monitoring the evolving situation and setting up appropriate responses as required. The information provided below will be updated as necessary.

Are classes still being held as scheduled?

Yes, while the Government called for non-essential inside mass gatherings of more than 100 people to be cancelled, the recommendation excluded educational services such as the REIV.

Our class sizes are significantly smaller and do not fall under this direction. At this stage, classes at the REIV are being held as scheduled.

What precautions is the REIV putting place?

  • Social Distancing:
    • Larger training rooms are being used to allow for a 1- 1.5 metre distance between students.
    • Break times are being staggered to avoid crowding in common areas.
  • Supporting good hygiene:
    • Hand sanitiser will be available in all training rooms (depending on stock availability)
    • Instructional visual cues are displayed across the Institute regarding good personal hygiene practices
    • Cleaning protocols have been stepped up.

I have just returned from overseas; can I attend class?

No, the Government requires all individuals arriving in Australia from midnight Sunday 15th March to self-isolate for 14 days. In addition, if you have close contact with a person who has returned from overseas in the last 14 days you are also required to isolate.
