Sunbury shines for house price growth

Sunbury was one of Melbourne’s star performing suburbs for price gains last year.

Latest data from the Real Estate Institute of Victoria reveals the outer northern suburb recorded an 8 per cent jump in median house price to $556,000 in 2018.

The top 20 Melbourne suburbs for house price growth were all in the outer ring, including Mernda, where the price rose 7.6 per cent to $592,750, and Craigieburn which recorded a price jump of 6.6 per cent to $565,000.

REIV president Robyn Waters said despite low confidence and sluggish auction clearance rates, homeowners were getting good prices for their homes when they did sell.
