Carrum reaches $1 million median with help of top-dollar sales

Top-dollar sales have pushed Carrum’s median house price to $1 million, making it a star performer at the end of a tough year.

The seaside ‘burb rose up the ranks to reach the $1 million milestone for the first time, according to Real Estate Institute of Victoria data.

It was the only suburb to join the exclusive million-dollar club in the December quarter last year, after notching whopping 10 per cent price growth.

REIV president Robyn Waters said the lifestyle up for grabs in Carrum helped boost the suburb’s prices.

“The bayside location and existing infrastructure, including train station and schools, make it a popular choice for families, young people and retirees,” Ms Waters said.

“The new skyrail may also have contributed to this boost in property values as well as an increase in culinary and entertainment options in Carrum and its neighbours such as Patterson Lakes and Chelsea.”
