Infrastructure investment in Victoria and its impact on real estate

Gain an insight into the key factors affecting our economy and Victoria’s major infrastructure projects at this year’s Economic Forecast Lunch.

Tim Pallas MP, Treasurer of Victoria, will explore Victoria’s major projects including key infrastructure pieces such as road and rail. Learn more about the economic drivers of these projects, including regional development, jobs growth and their impacts on the property market.

Jason Todd, Head of Wealth Management Investment Strategy at the Macquarie Group, will join the Treasurer to share insights on where Macquarie sees the future opportunities for infrastructure given the increasing population. Jason will further discuss impacts on the sector such as funding and the role our superannuation funds can play.

In addition, Jason will also share both short- and long-term forecasts for the real estate and property industry, impacts, drivers and opportunities including interest rates, foreign investment, lending predictions and the roll-on effects.

Tim Pallas MP, Treasurer of Victoria

Tim was elected to the Victorian Parliament in 2006 and is the state member for Werribee.

Following the election of the Andrews Labor Government in November 2014, he was sworn in as Victoria’s 50^th Treasurer – a position he holds to this day. He is also currently the Minister for Economic Development and Minister for Industrial Relations.

Tim previously served in the Bracks and Brumby Governments as Minister for Roads and Ports, and later added Major Projects to his responsibilities. He was also previously Minister for Resources in the last term of the Andrews Labor Government, overseeing a period of significant growth.


 

Jason Todd, Head of Wealth Management Investment Strategy at the Macquarie Group

Jason began his career 22 years ago with JPMorgan New Zealand as their Equity strategist from 1996 – 2007, spending time in Sydney as the Australian Strategist, London and then New York as US/Global Strategist.
In 2007 he joined Morgan Stanley New York as US/Global Strategist where he remained until 2010 before moving to Asia.

Jason most recently was Regional Asian Strategist and Head of Hong Kong / China Equities with CIMB and Head of Australian Macroeconomic Research for Macquarie Bank.

Jason is currently the Head of Wealth Management Investment Strategy for the Macquarie Group.
