Adrian Butera wins REIV's Senior Auctioneers' Competition for 2010

8-Jul-2010

On 7 July, Adrian Butera from Compton & Green won the highly coveted REIV Senior Auctioneers' Competition — ahead of a first-class field of contestants.

REIV President John Grabyn congratulated Mr Butera, remarking that he displayed a high degree of technical proficiency and professionalism.

“Victoria is the residential auction capital of Australia and people expect not only an interesting auction but one that gets the best return possible for the owner.

“As a result of his performance, I have high hopes for Mr Butera as he competes to become the best auctioneer in Australia and New Zealand, along with runner-up Matthew Young from Buxton (St Kilda) Pty Ltd,” Mr Grabyn concluded.

The REIV conducts a yearly competition to find the best novice and senior auctioneers in Victoria. The purpose of this competition is twofold: it helps estate agents to develop and improve their skills; and it offers the industry an opportunity to highlight the skills required to conduct a successful auction and achieve the highest return for the vendor.

Entrants are judged by some of Victoria's most experienced auctioneers on their understanding of the laws and regulations that relate to property transactions, as well as their ability to run the auction professionally and present the property.

This year’s finalists were: Adrian Butera of Compton & Green; Peter Clark of Clark First National; Richard James of Jellis Craig;  Alisha Hobart of Harcourts; and Matthew Young of Buxton (St Kilda) Pty Ltd.

The REIV would like to extend its congratulations to all who participated and wish Adrian and Matthew the best of luck as they head into the Australasian Real Estate Institutes' Auctioneering Championships in New Zealand this September.
